Pre (Tree) Primary School

This is about a school which I call (Pre) Tree Primary School. Everyone loves their school and I love my school too. However this school is very close to my heart it makes me think as to what we as citizens of India can do to make the future of India much brighter.

Everyday on my way to office, I come across this so called school in Lokhandwala, Andheri (W), which I call '(Pre) Tree Primary School'. The students here are small children who live on the streets, aged from 8 to 10 years who don't have the luxury of sitting in a proper school class room. What I see here is just a small black board hanging on a tree, a group of 15 to 20 children and a handful of teachers. It is under the shade of a tree these children study. Not even the noise of the busy traffic, the heat of the sun and the breeze making the black board swing, fail to distract them. I think the credit should go to the teachers of this school. I really appreciate the dedication of the teachers as they are the ones who are able to make learning so enjoyable and inculcate discipline in these children who make it a point to attend this school everyday as I don't see their numbers decreasing. Where there is a will there is a way and that can be proved in this case. I feel that only the good values that you learn from your parents and in school make you a better human being. I am sure these children will have a bright future ahead as they have the will to learn even in these harsh circumstances. They also may be having the ability to be well educated but don't have the money to get admission in a proper school. I think they deserve good education and this can only be possible with the help and support of non profit making human welfare organizations and the Government of India. I would like to urge the Government of India to come forward and visit such schools and appreciate the teachers and help these children live a better tomorrow. These children may not be lucky enough to enjoy their summer vacation as I don't think it is possible to run this school during the monsoons. I don't see them nowadays so I think that they are enjoying their monsoon vacation right now or should I say hope they are enjoying their vacation. I think it is very important to educate the children of India today, to make a better tomorrow for them and for India as it is only through education India can rise to great heights and solve the problem of unemployment. For me those celebrities are not the heroes who win international reality shows and win hefty prize money for themselves, but those who choose to serve humanity and help to make the Future of India much brighter and that too without any rewards. I believe we can only make a living by what we get, but we can make a life by what we give. JAI HIND!
